George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation

Dear Friends and Family:

To receive a fresh dose of inspiration, take a look at George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation. Now we can begin to realize just to what depths that these United States have fallen. It is God who gives us our sustenance. It is God who for so many years has rendered mercy for a sometime stiff-necked people. And because where the Lord is, there is liberty:

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” II Corinthians 3:17

Please prayerfully consider what God has done for you, your family, your community and our nation. Please pray for those that have no one and nowhere to go, and for those who live in institutions have no one who will come to see them on America’s holidays. Give special thanks to God and to our servicemen and servicewomen who have protected our country since its inception. And prayerfully consider George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation of October 3, 1789 as you literally give thanks.

Blessings on your day,

   Mark

Sin is Like:

Sin is like a hot potato.

Sin is like a virus on your computer.

Sin is like a cancer in your body.

Sin is like a weak spot in the wall protecting the city.

Sin is like a small hole in the levee during flood stage.

Sin is like rats and mice coming in to your house.

Sin is like weeds in your garden.

Get rid of sin in your life.  Repent and become free!

Inside Out

The Lord works from the inside out.
The world works from the outside in.

The world would take people out of slums.

Christ takes the slums out of people.

The world would change the environment in

order to mold people.

Christ changes people, who then renew the

environment.

The world would modify human behavior, but

Christ can transform human nature.

The Greatest Danger

The greatest danger facing all of us is not that we shall make an absolute failure of life, nor that we shall fall into outright viciousness, nor that we shall be terribly unhappy, nor that we shall feel that life has no meaning at all – not these things.

The danger is that we may:

– fail to perceive life’s greatest meaning,

– fall short of its highest good,

– miss its deepest and most abiding happiness,

– be unable to tender the most needed service,

– be unconscious of life ablaze with the light of the Presence of God,

– and be content to have it so.

That is the danger – that some day we may wake up and find that always we have been busy with husks and trappings of life and have really missed life itself.

For life without God, to one who has known the richness and joy of life with Him, is unthinkable, impossible.  That is what one prays one’s friends may be spared – satisfaction with a life that falls short of the best, that has in it no tingle or thrill that comes from a friendship with the Father.     Phillip Brooks (1835-1893)

Motto for Walking with the Lord – STRIPES

“By His stripes we are healed…” Isaiah 53:5

S – Seek the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul, leading to total surrender to His will; become a “hundred percenter” – 100% for the Lord.

T – ”Trust in the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul, and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct    your path.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

R – Relationships are critical – with the Lord and with those around us.

I – Integrity is imperative; with integrity, we recognize the dignity of others, and retain our own.

P – Playmaker – be a playmaker in other people’s lives; seek to be a vehicle for the Lord’s love, joy, and power.  I am the glove; He is the hand (the hand of the Lord).

E – Expect God to do incredible things through you.

S – Share God’s love with everyone who comes across your path.
